Microsoft has announced its intention to abandon the Publisher application, which allows you to create brochures, calendars, business cards and logos. The application will be excluded from the Microsoft 365 package in October 2026, according to the company’s website, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
Most of Publisher’s features are already included in other Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word and PowerPoint, which can serve as alternatives to Publisher, Microsoft said. The company also noted that it is exploring ways to bring Publisher’s most popular use cases to Word, PowerPoint and Designer.
Publisher users will be able to continue using the app until October 2026. However, in February 2024, Microsoft will end support for Office 2021 LTSC, which also includes Publisher.
Microsoft notified users of its decision in advance so that they could adapt to the changes and choose other tools for their needs within or outside the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
Microsoft Publisher was launched in 1991 as a standalone application for Windows.
