He added that trust and cooperation made it possible for Hungary to triple in current value since 2010, to increase the performance of the economy by 42 percent in real terms, to create 1 million new jobs, and to increase real wages by more than 50 percent.
He went on to say that now
the international environment is not very favorable. Despite this, the Hungarian economy is on a growth path, this year the economy may expand by 1-1.5 percent, and next year, according to the European Commission, the Hungarian economy may be on the podium with a growth of 3-3.5 percent.
Tamás Vékási, CEO of EY Hungary, emphasized at the award ceremony that the award provides an opportunity to focus on the success of businesses and build an entrepreneurial community.
EY’s international program recognizes business people who not only work for their own success, but also shape the economy and society of the future. Their example is the guarantee that anything can be achieved with risk-taking, perseverance and continuous innovation, added the CEO.
This year, the EY Businessman of the Year award and the main prize went to Éva Hegedüs, the co-founder and CEO of Gránit Bank, who will represent Hungary in the global finals of the competition, at the World Entrepreneur of the Year event in Monaco in 2025.

The EY Businessman of the Year award was won by Ádám Balogh, the manager of Baki Agrocentrum Kft., and Miklós Szabó, the founder-owner of the Tranzit Group, who also won the EY Role Model special award.
Andrea Prohászka, managing director of Tutti Kft., received the EY Women’s Entrepreneurial Excellence special award.
The special award for EY Entrepreneurial Spirit created in memory of Sándor Demján went to Gábor Fülöp and Mrs. Fülöp Gáborn, the founders of Agrosprint Zrt.
Károly Kovács, founder and managing director of Pureco Ltd., won a special award for EY Sustainability.
The jury awarded the special EY Innovator prize to Zsófia Szabóné Benyeda, managing director of Prophyl Kft., for her pioneering work at the head of the company and for her innovative solutions in animal health.
