A drone crashes into the building

This Monday (26), a military drone hit a residential building in Saratov, Russia, in an attack that left four people injured. Russian authorities blamed the attack on Ukraine, but there was no immediate comment from the Ukrainian side.

The drone exploded when it hit a 38-story building in the Volga Sky residential complex, the tallest in the city at 128 meters high. A video published by the Russian SHOT channel on Telegram shows the moment of the explosion. The images show several broken windows on at least three floors of the building. A woman was hospitalized in a serious condition after the attack, as reported by Russian media.

The Russian government said that on the same night, 22 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and shot down, mainly in the Saratov region. Russia and Ukraine deny that civilians are the targets of their attacks, saying they aim only to destroy infrastructure essential to the war effort, as Reuters published.

Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine

Meanwhile, Ukraine suffered a “massive” missile and drone attack launched by Russia, hitting fifteen regions of the country. The Ukrainian government said at least three people died in western and southern Ukraine as a result of the attack. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal announced on Telegram that the attacks involved drones, hypersonic and cruise missiles.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the attacks, saying they were carried out with long-range, high-precision weapons, targeting important energy infrastructure that supports Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. The statement on Telegram showed that all the goals were achieved.

Explosions were also recorded in the capital Kiev. Residents sought shelter in covered alleys and at subway entrances and underground tunnels, which act as shelters against attacks.

Ukrainian power operator DTEK announced power outages in several areas and said electrical engineers were working to restore service. Lviv regional governor Maksym Kozytsky reported partial blackouts due to attacks targeting energy production facilities.
