Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour Display Unity Amid Bullying Allegations During ‘Stranger Things’ Final Season
Despite recent reports alleging on-set conflict, millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour have publicly presented a united front, signaling a strong bond as the acclaimed series Stranger Things nears its conclusion. The pair’s display of camaraderie comes after a U.K. tabloid report surfaced earlier this month detailing accusations against harbour.
The initial report, published by The Daily Mail, claimed that the 21-year-old Brown filed a harassment and bullying complaint against the 50-year-old Harbour prior to the commencement of filming for the final season. The allegations reportedly spanned “pages of pages,” though specific details were not disclosed. Importantly, the report indicated that no claims of sexual impropriety were made. According to sources, Netflix initiated an internal investigation that lasted several months, and as a result, Brown was allegedly provided with a personal representative on set throughout the remainder of filming, which concluded in December 2024.
As of today, netflix has not issued a public response to inquiries regarding the report.
The dynamic between Brown’s character, Eleven, and Harbour’s Hopper remains a central focus in the fifth season, with the two characters sharing meaningful screen time after thier reunion at the end of season four. The previous season saw the pair separated, with Hopper imprisoned in a russian labor camp and Eleven working to regain her powers in California.
Brown described returning to work with Harbour on the final season as “so nice” and “really exciting.” She further elaborated on the nostalgic feel of their scenes, noting a return to the dynamic established in seasons two and three. “It was quite nostalgic as it reminded me so much of season two and three, where we’re both kind of butting heads and she’s growing up, she’s trying to find her own voice and he’s trying to parent, and that dynamic definitely comes back into play once again, and I’m really excited for people to see that,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I think some of people’s favourite scenes of Eleven are Ele and [Hopper] so I’m really excited to have that come to screen once again.”
While brown has not directly addressed the allegations, the Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, were questioned about the claims at the Los Angeles premiere.
Co-creator Ross Duffer, alongside his brother Matt Duffer, stated, “obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Shawn Levy, director and executive producer of Stranger Things, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of a respectful work environment. “You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels agreeable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment,” he said. “And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
Levy acknowledged the proliferation of misinformation surrounding the situation, adding, “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to … ther’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”
Volume 1 of Stranger Things season five is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with Volume 2 scheduled for release on December 25 and the series finale on December 31, with a simultaneous theatrical release planned for the finale.
