Minister of Interior issues directives on combating human trafficking »

Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari issued several directives regarding combating human trafficking.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari chaired today, Monday, the forty-third session of the Central Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, with the participation of representatives from 15 ministries and a number of departments not affiliated with a ministry. During the session, the attendees discussed ways to enhance efforts to combat human trafficking in Iraq and provide support to victims.”
She added, “The Minister directed the need to expand the role of sheltering victims of human trafficking in Iraq, in a way that ensures providing them with the necessary support and providing the appropriate environment for their rehabilitation and integration into society.”
He continued: “He also directed the creation of an awareness and educational guide in cooperation with the Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, which represents a strategic step towards preventing the crime of human trafficking. This guide aims to spread awareness among students and youth about the dangers of this crime and the methods of luring victims, by including this guide in the curricula, to build an aware and educated generation capable of recognizing the signs of danger and taking appropriate preventive measures.”
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior continues to make all efforts in cooperation with the relevant authorities to achieve the Committee’s objectives, protect human rights and combat all forms of human trafficking.
