Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghariri arrived today, Monday, in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on an official visit, heading a high-level delegation that includes an elite group of Iraqi businessmen and investors, the head of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, and the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations at the Ministry.
Al-Ghariri said in a statement received by the (INA): “Our visit to Baku came to hold bilateral talks with the Azerbaijani side to enhance economic and trade cooperation, increase the volume of trade exchange, and open new horizons for joint cooperation.”
He pointed out that “the delegation will hold intensive bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the visit with senior officials in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy to discuss the available opportunities to establish real partnerships between businessmen from both sides, in addition to focusing on taking advantage of the geographical proximity between Iraq and Azerbaijan to enhance economic cooperation.”
Al-Ghariri stressed “the importance of this visit in opening new horizons for cooperation between the two countries,” noting that “Iraq seeks to increase the volume of trade exchange and attract more foreign investments, in a way that serves the interests of the Iraqi economy.”
