Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to build another cabinet in the state. The new building will be on the premises of Rose House, the residence of Education Minister V Sivankutty. Although there are 21 ministers, including the chief minister, there are only 20 official residences. The new building is being constructed for Minister V Abdurahman, who lives in a rented house.
There are seven other ministerial buildings on the premises of the Cliff House where the Chief Minister resides. Prashanth, Periyar, Pournami, Ashoka, Nest, Pampa, Essen Den. The Leader of the Opposition’s Cantonment House complex has four ministries. Cauvery, Ganges, Nila, Grace. Manmohan Bungalow, Ajanta and Kawadiar House are located near the Raj Bhavan.
Nandankodu has two and Vazhuthacaud has three cabinet houses. All the ministers except Abdurahman have official residences. EP Jayarajan, who returned after resigning in the first Pinarayi cabinet in the appointment controversy, also did not get an official residence. Sanadu, where Jayarajan was staying, had already given his replacement to MM Mani. Abdurahman is currently staying at the Vazhuthakatte rented house where Jayarajan was staying on his second visit.
