Payments by Russians with Mir cards on the largest marketplace Wildberries in 2021 for the first time overtook Visa and Mastercard in this indicator: the total amount of payments through Mir amounted to over 250 billion rubles, which was an absolute record, a representative of Wildberries told Vedomosti. The largest volume of transactions occurred in December 2021 – 41 billion rubles, as this is the high season when Russians actively make New Year’s purchases. Compared to December 2020, the volume of payments increased by 2.8 times. For the year as a whole, comparable growth dynamics, the Wildberries representative specified, without disclosing specific indicators for 2020.
The aggregate size of transactions on Wildberries in 2021, as well as how much was paid for with Visa and Mastercard cards, was not disclosed by the site representative.
