Cinema Under The Stars will present a Rob Reiner retrospective featuring a screening of his 1990 psychological thriller, “Misery,” on January 16 and 17, 2026. The unique outdoor theater experience promises a cozy and immersive viewing environment, even during the winter months.

The screenings of “Misery,” starring Kathy Bates and James Caan, will take place at Cinema Under the Stars’ location at 4040 Goldfinch Street, San diego, CA 92103. The film, described as a “white-knuckle, darkly humorous Hitchcockian chiller,” centers on an obsessive fan, Annie Wilkes, who holds her favorite novelist, Paul Sheldon, captive after a car accident. Bates won an Oscar for her performance in the film.

Online reservations for members begin on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9 a.m.,while non-member reservations open on Tuesday,January 13,2026,at 9 a.m. The box office will open at 6 p.m. on movie nights, with films beginning at 8 p.m. preceded by a vintage cartoon.

A senior official stated that a credit card is required to hold seats when making reservations online. However, the box office accepts only cash, checks, and Venmo as forms of payment.reservations must be cancelled before 5 p.m. online or by calling the box office before 6 p.m. to avoid charges.
