Joe Keery condemns Trump’s Defense of ICE Agent in Fatal Shooting of Minneapolis Woman
Teh actor and musician, known for his role in Stranger Things, has publicly criticized former President Donald Trump for defending an ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of a woman in Minneapolis. The incident occured on January 8, 2026, and Keery’s rebuke comes amidst a growing wave of condemnation directed at Trump for seemingly justifying the officer’s actions.
The incident unfolded on a residential street in Minneapolis, were Good was fatally shot while inside her vehicle. Trump swiftly defended the ICE agent, posting on his Truth Social platform that he had reviewed footage and concluded the officer acted in “self-defence.” He characterized Good as a “professional agitator” and claimed she was “violently, willfully, and viciously” attempting to run over the agent, who is now recovering in the hospital.
Keery responded to Trump’s post on Instagram Stories, sharing a screenshot and adding the stark message: “Zero human decency. Stop this man.”
the former president’s comments have ignited widespread controversy, wiht many questioning his quickness to defend the agent before a full inquiry. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey directly challenged Trump’s narrative, stating at a press conference, “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defence. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly – that is bullshit.” Frey also issued a forceful demand for ICE agents to leave Minneapolis, stating, “Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz echoed the criticism, rebuking both Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who labeled Good’s actions as “an act of domestic terrorism.” Walz asserted, “You’ve done enough. [The state] doesn’t need any further help from the federal government,” and announced the planning of the Minnesota National Guard for potential deployment.
Trump has as doubled down on his claims, reiterating to reporters in the Oval Office that he believes Good was at fault, stating, “She behaved horribly, and then she ran him over.” Despite this, he acknowledged, “I don’t like that happening. It’s a terrible scene. I think it’s horrible to watch. I hate to see it.”
Other prominent figures have also weighed in. Chat show host Jimmy Kimmel labeled Trump a “maniac,” while news anchor chris Hayes suggested ICE’s actions could be interpreted as “cold-blooded murder.” California Governor Gavin Newsom went further, describing the actions of ICE as “state-sponsored terrorism.”
conversely, some have defended ICE. Vice President JD Vance characterized Good as a “deranged leftist” and claimed her death was “a tragedy of her own making” on X/Twitter. Tricia McLaughlin, Noem’s deputy, also branded good a “violent rioter” who had “weaponised her vehicle” on the same platform.
Keery’s outspoken criticism arrives on the heels of the highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things, which concluded on New Year’s Day, 2026, with a record-breaking 59.6 million views for its final episode – the highest for any English-language title on Netflix. The actor, who also performs music under the moniker Djo, recently achieved another milestone with his song ‘End Of The Beginning’ surpassing Taylor Swift’s ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ on Spotify’s global chart.
