Published: August 10, 2024, 8:16 PM

Singer, lyricist, ⁢and composer Vladimír Mišík, despite ongoing health struggles, ⁢has just released a new album‍ titled Vteřiny, měší a roky (Vteriny, měší ⁣a roky). This follows his award-winning albums⁣ Once I’ll Meet You and Night Image, and marks his third collaboration with producer and composer Petr ⁤Ostrouchov.

However, despite the release, Mišík avoids any christening ⁤or concert. “Thank God, I finished ⁣the record ⁣on ‍time and with ease,”‌ he shared from his hospital bed in Prague’s Na Františku Hospital. “There was no pressure, I sang‌ comfortably, a little doped up with some medication.”

The album features six lyrics and two ⁢songs composed by Mišík himself. He collaborated with former ambassador and Havel Library director Michael Žantovský ‌on the composition ”Měl jsem sen.”

The album also includes poems set to music‍ by various renowned composers, including Josef Kainar, Jan Skácel, Jiří Dědeček, and František Gellner.

While Mišík can no longer play guitar due to arthritis, he still maintains a musical presence through⁣ his vocals and symbolic use of the ‍instrument.

The album’s recording process involved a ten-member⁤ band, featuring prominent figures like Josef Štěpánek, Petr Ostrouchov, Matěj Belko, and Ondřej Pivec.

Mišík’s musical journey began in the‌ 1960s with bands like Komet, Matadors, and Blue Effect. He later formed the group Etc… in the 1970s, which he led for several decades.

In 2017, a documentary ‍film titled Let Mišík Sing was ‌made to‌ celebrate his 70th birthday. He has released two albums in the past five‍ years: Jedno te potekám and Noční obraz.
