Andrea, why were you surprised to win?
“When I was young I thought I did not have what it took to compete in beauty pageants, you hear what people say, that Miss Universe should be flawless, always look perfect, always smile, be the smartest, and it always felt to me that the standards are so high I would never eat “But then I realized that if you are confident in yourself and work hard to make your dreams come true, it is possible, I took inspiration from other girls from my country who won and thought that if they succeeded, why should I not eat? It was the spark that started it all.”

You said it was no longer a beauty contest, what did you mean?
“Today in my opinion it is no longer possible to call Miss Universe a beauty contest because it is so much more than that, it is a contest where women can empower other women and inspire them. We raise money for important causes like violence against women. “It’s a global problem that needs to be addressed. It’s also important for me to talk about my experience to inspire young women. In my country there was no one who explained to me that it was possible so I hope I can do it for other girls.”
What is it like to be Miss Universe in the Corona period?
“It was very different, I only had seven months compared to the previous winners who were on duty for a year. At first there were not many trips as usual, in recent months thanks to the vaccine I can continue with the flights and do what I need to.”

“She is amazing. I really enjoyed talking to her and spending time with her. I think she will succeed big time and make her country proud.”
Do you think she has what it takes to be the next Miss Universe?
“She is very interesting, I loved her personality, every year there are completely different requirements, I do not know what they are looking for this year, but she is super smart, speaks well and I think she will go far. Imagine the competition takes place in Israel and Miss Israel will win, it will be amazing “.
What tips did you give her?
“I told her to be herself is the most important thing, a lot of candidates think they should impress and do it effortlessly and that’s the biggest mistake, you don’t need it. You just have to be you and bring your uniqueness.”
Noa, what’s the most significant thing Andrea told you?
“She said she had been preparing for Miss Universe since childhood and explained that this is how it is abroad from a young age they dream of being Miss Universe and go to beauty pageants to prepare. I explained to her that language is less like that, and she said it seemed to her that it was an advantage because I come more authentic. The most important tip she gave me is not to comment on talkbacks, there are lots of opinions of fans of the competition around the world, and just not to comment because it’s hard to get out of it. “She said that when she won the reactions were really unpleasant. She was told she was not suitable to be Miss Universe, and slowly she learned not to let that affect her and that she should concentrate on helping other women and promoting her important goals that would make the world a better place.”
