Missouri Veterans Cemeteries to Host Wreath Laying Events Honoring Fallen Heroes

A nationwide tradition, Wreaths Across America, will be observed at six Missouri Veterans cemeteries on Saturday, December 13, 2025, offering a moment of remembrance for those who served.

Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Veterans Commission will participate in the annual Wreaths Across America event, a solemn tribute to the service and sacrifice of U.S. veterans. The wreath-laying ceremonies will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at each of the state’s six veterans cemeteries, providing an opportunity for communities to honor the memory of those who defended the nation.

The tradition began in 1992 with the Worcester Wreath Company of Maine, which initiated the practice of donating wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. According to a company release, the gesture aimed to express gratitude for the dedication of those who served. In 2006, the company expanded its efforts, providing seven ceremonial wreaths to every state and national veterans cemetery across the country.

Today, the initiative has grown into a nationwide movement, fueled by individuals and organizations who contribute to the purchase of wreaths to adorn the headstones of veterans. “Wreaths Across America is a powerful symbol of our collective respect and remembrance,” stated a senior official with the Missouri Veterans Commission. “It’s a way to ensure that the stories of our veterans are never forgotten.”

The public is encouraged to attend the ceremonies and witness the laying of wreaths. Media representatives are also welcome to cover the events and conduct interviews with volunteers and cemetery directors.
