Mixed schools are enough in the state – Kerala Mixed Schools

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ State Child Rights Commission has ordered that only mixed schools are sufficient in Kerala. The Child Rights Commission directed the Principal Secretary, Director of Public Education, Director of SCERT to prepare an action plan for the government to implement co-education from the academic year 2023-24. A report on the steps taken has also been asked to be submitted to the commission within 90 days of receiving the order.

“From the academic year 2023-24, an action plan should be formulated and implemented to abolish all boys’ schools and girls’ schools and to implement co-education in all schools” – says the order of the Child Rights Commission.

The order also states that prior to the implementation of co-education, necessary steps should be taken to improve the physical conditions of the said schools, including toilets, and to sensitize parents about the need for co-education.
