Deepen Your Understanding of Art with New MONUMENTS Tours and Office Hours
Table of Contents
A new initiative at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) aims too foster deeper engagement with its MONUMENTS collection through interactive tours and dedicated office hours. These programs are designed to connect visitors with the art on display, encouraging discussion and a more profound thankfulness for contemporary works.
Expanding Access to Artistic Dialog
The cornerstone of this effort is a series of Talking Tours, specifically crafted to provide opportunities for visitors to discuss the art,ask questions, and explore the themes and techniques employed by the artists. According to a museum representative, the goal is to “engage visitors, while expanding thier appreciation and understanding of art.” A schedule of upcoming tours is available [here](Upcoming talking tours schedule here.).
Dedicated Support with MONUMENTS Office Hours
Beyond the guided tours, MOCA is offering MONUMENTS Office Hours, providing a more informal setting for learning. Visitors can drop into the Reading Room, located within the galleries at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, to speak directly with a MOCA educator.
These office hours offer a range of support, including:
- Conversations about the MONUMENTS collection.
- Answers to specific questions about the artwork.
- Recommendations for further reading.
The schedule for these drop-in sessions is as follows:
- Thursdays & Fridays: 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Saturdays & Sundays: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This multifaceted approach underscores MOCA’s commitment to making contemporary art accessible and fostering a vibrant community of art enthusiasts.
