/ Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif revealed today, Saturday, that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei directed him to negotiate with the Americans before and after the US invasion of Iraq.

The Iranian Didban website reported in a report translated by Agency, that Zarif said in a student meeting entitled “The New Order in the World” today, Saturday, “We realized before others that the Soviet Union with all its facilities was on its way to collapse, adding, “By God and Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas, missiles are important, but people are more important.”

Zarif stressed that “the leadership (Khamenei) ordered me to negotiate with Washington twice before the US attack on Iraq and once after the US attack on Iraq.”

“We have many examples where we could have negotiated under better conditions; but we waited and went to the negotiating table when we did not have these things,” Mohammad Javad Zarif explained.
