Moldova will receive 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year under a new contract with Gazprom

by time news

The volume of gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova will amount to about 3 billion cubic meters per year. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the country Andrei Spinu during a briefing following negotiations with a Russian company. Mr. Spinu also said that during the negotiations the issue of the debt for gas of the residents of Transnistria was not discussed.

“During the negotiations in St. Petersburg, we did not discuss with Gazprom the issue of the debt for gas of the residents of Transnistria. This issue was not raised either during the negotiations or within the framework of the signed protocols, “he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

According to Mr. Spinu, the governments of Moldova and Russia plan to sign an agreement on cooperation in the energy sector by the end of 2022. “Part of the agreements will be to preserve the status of Moldovagaz as a joint stock company in order to prevent reorganization of the enterprise,” he said.

At the same time, the president of the unrecognized Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said in his Telegram channel that “gas is supplied to the republic in volumes sufficient to fully cover existing needs.”

On October 29, Moldova and Gazprom signed a five-year gas supply contract. The cost of gas for the republic will be $ 450 per 1,000 cubic meters in November. Under the terms of the contract, gas will rise in price twice as compared to the old formula. In October, Moldova bought gas at market prices – about $ 790 per 1,000 cubic meters. The parties also agreed on the audit and, probably, the subsequent restructuring of the historical debt of Moldova, which was estimated by Gazprom at $ 709 million.
