This British garage rock band found their home in Finland and became a star there thanks to a quasi-cover of “Brand New Cadillac” (1964) and that monster garage hit “Thirteen Women” from 1966. So it’s no wonder that the Renegades can be heard over and over again in Aki Kaurismäki’s films, as this rock-roll pastiche from the dark side of happiness is made to accompany Kaurismäki’s laconic loser hymns on humanism.
