The Spanish actress Mónica Cervera has made headlines in recent days when it was learned that she has gone from walking on the red carpet at the Goya Awards to living destitute in a park in Málaga, her native province.

Semana magazine obtained statements from the artist, who rejects her past in art: “I don’t want the word television or cinema to be called my name. I was there on her day, but I never want to go back. I’m fine as I am, I don’t want to talk about that past,†she declared.

After learning about this situation, several programs have analyzed the reality of the actress and contacted some close people who revealed some details.

‘Fiesta’ was one of the Spanish television programs that dedicated a segment to the news precisely this weekend.

The commentators of the program questioned that “sleeping on the street is the last thing. It’s a voluntary issue, but I don’t know how they can help her. You can’t help anyone who doesn’t want to be helped,’ they pointed out in said space on the Telecinco network.

According to what they commented, “her classmates have tried to help her, but she hasn’t let herself (…) This rejection of TV and movies is perhaps a way of throwing in the towel.”

Mónica Cervera began in the world of acting in 1999, at just 24 years old, in the short film “Hongos†by Ramón Salazar, a career that would continue with the series “Hands to work.†.

Then in 2005 she made an astronomical leap to fame by playing Lourdes in the famous comedy by Álex de la Iglesia, “Crimen ferpecto”. Several media outlets report the masterful nature of that performance, which earned her a nomination for the Goya Awards in the category of Best New Actress.

Following that nomination, Cervera worked in only two more films: “Busco” and “20 centimeters”, also directed by Ramón Salazar, and decided to continue his path in television.

On the small screen she could be seen in 2013, with the popular series “La que se cerca” where she played María José Rivas, Amador’s sister.

His time in “The one that is coming†was brief and in 2016 he completely disappeared from the cameras, the spotlights and the stages.

Social networks have also noticed her absence, regarding which the actress added in her words to the aforementioned magazine: “I was there once, but I never want to go back. I’m fine the way I am, I don’t want to talk about that past.”

Almost 10 years after leaving the art world, the artist is going through one of the worst moments of her personal life.

“The actress lives on a park bench in Marbella, the city where she was born, from where she tries to survive day and night in the elements, in search of help that will allow her to support herself,†confirmed the newspaper ABC.

According to them, her family lives in the Andalusian city, but Severa, 48, prefers to live on the street than under her roof. “They have to respect me. I want them to leave me alone and live as I have chosen to live,†the artist told Semana.
