Monkeypox has already been diagnosed in 40 people in the Netherlands | Monkeypox – Science

The first Dutch people to contract monkey pox are mainly men who have had varying sexual contacts with other men, the RIVM said earlier. Some of the infections can be traced back to an outbreak at the Belgian festival Darklands. Health authorities do emphasize that anyone can get monkey pox after close contact with someone who is infected.

The virus originates in Africa. For a few weeks now, it has been circulating mainly in European countries. In Belgium we are now at 14 infections, of which 4 in Brussels, 9 in Flanders and 1 in Wallonia.
