The Jakarta government is scheduling monorail pillar removal during off-peak hours to avoid traffic congestion.
- Monorail pillar removal on Jalan HR Rasuna said will occur nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- No full road closures are planned; only slow lane restrictions will be in place.
- around 30 personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety.
- The entire demolition project is expected to be completed by September 2026.
Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, explained the decision to work during nighttime hours. “As traffic density in Jakarta remains high until 10 p.m., we’ve set the work window from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.,” he said at the demolition site on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
What time will the monorail pillar removal take place on Jalan HR rasuna Said? The work will be conducted nightly between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. local time.
Minimal Disruption Planned
The pillar removal will follow a “one pole, one night” approach, according to officials. While slow lane closures will be necessary, traffic will still be able to flow through the fast lanes. “There are no road closures,” Liputo clarified. “Closures are limited to the slow lane, and staging will be carefully managed to allow traffic from the fast lane to merge safely.”
To further ensure smooth traffic flow, the DKI Transportation Agency will collaborate with Satpol PP (Public Order Agency) to deploy approximately 30 personnel each night. Thes officers will regulate traffic and provide security at the work site.
Officials are also urging drivers to refrain from stopping at the work locations so that traffic behind them continues to flow smoothly,” Liputo added.
Long-Term Infrastructure Plans
The DKI Provincial Government anticipates completing the demolition of all monorail pillars along Rasuna Said by September 2026. This project is part of a larger effort to improve roads, sidewalks, and drainage in the area.
