According to the information of the State Statistics Committee (SSC), in the first 9 months of this year, the average amount of purchases per person in the wholesale network was 448 manats per month. In the same period last year, this figure was 393 manats. So, in the last year, retail trade expenses per person increased by 55 manats or 14 percent. According to official figures, monthly per capita food costs in Azerbaijan have risen from 221 manats to 251 manats in the last year. In other words, it increased by 30 manats or 14 percent. Non-food expenses of the population increased from 171 manats to 196 manats during the same period. This means a monthly increase of 25 manats or 15 percent.
The cost per person is more than 100 manats, but the income has increased by 27 manats
Compared to the same period in 2021, per capita spending increased more. Compared to two years ago, the average monthly expenditure per person in Azerbaijan is 111 manat or 33 percent higher. This is an indicator of how much the high inflation recorded in Azerbaijan in recent years has increased costs. Another noteworthy point is the lower growth in the income of the population during the same period. According to the survey conducted by the State Security Council, in the first half of the year, the average monthly income per person in Baku, where the majority of the country’s population lives, was 349 manats. In the same period of 2021, this indicator was 322 manats. So, In the last two years, per capita monthly expenses have increased by more than 100 manats, while the increase in per capita income is only 27 manats.
