MADRID,‍ 6 Aug. (Europe Press) – Moroccan police arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State terrorist organization in the city of‌ Urika,⁢ central Morocco, on Monday. The individual is⁢ accused of planning “dangerous” attacks​ in sensitive locations.

The​ 18-year-old suspect has reportedly confessed to⁤ cooperating with the jihadist organization,⁢ demonstrating experience in explosive material preparation‌ and maintaining contact with‌ other Islamic ⁢State associates. These connections are believed to be aimed at facilitating their ⁤advancement and‌ integration ​into⁤ one of the group’s branches in ‍the Sahel region.

The arrest, conducted in collaboration with foreign intelligence⁤ agencies, also yielded electronic equipment and two plastic bottles, one containing a suspicious liquid and the other with a chemical ​substance.

The suspect remains ​in detention‍ while a judicial investigation is underway, led by the Central Office of Judicial Investigations under the supervision of‍ the Terrorism Prosecutor’s ​Office.⁤ The ⁤investigation ‌aims to uncover⁣ the full extent of the suspect’s criminal activities and potential ⁢links to other terrorist groups.
