In a joint communiqué issued at the end of the first session of the Morocco-Malawi Joint Cooperation Commission, the two ministers agreed to maintain the current momentum and reaffirmed their commitment to exploring new avenues of cooperation in priority areas in the future.
In this regard, Mr. Bourita stressed the need to establish a constructive and in-depth political dialogue with the Republic of Malawi, welcoming the convergence of the visions of the two parties on issues of common interest, marked by a common commitment to peace, stability, respect for the sovereignty of States and democracy in Africa and in the world.
According to the joint statement, the Kingdom is committed to organizing, in 2024, an economic promotion week in Morocco to promote exchanges and explore the possibility of identifying cooperation opportunities in areas of common interest, in addition to establishing a Moroccan economic mission in the Republic of Malawi, in 2025, to explore and identify investment opportunities for Moroccan economic operators.
Morocco has also committed to organizing an Economic Forum in 2026 in the Republic of Malawi to promote economic and trade relations between the two countries in areas of common interest, and to give new impetus to the dynamics of bilateral economic cooperation through the realization of strategic projects and common opportunities.
At the multilateral level, both sides stressed the importance of intensifying their contacts with a view to further harmonizing their positions within regional, continental and international institutions, such as the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN).
