MADRID, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Prime Minister of Morocco, Aziz Ajanuch, has stressed that the Government is working for “the proper development” of reconstruction operations following the earthquake of magnitude 6.8 on the open Richter scale that shook the country on September 8, which left nearly 3,000 dead.

“The government carries out, within the Interministerial Commission, constant reflection and action on the mechanisms capable of guaranteeing the proper development of the reconstruction operation,” he said after a meeting to address an urgent program of rehabilitation and reconstruction of homes destroyed by the earthquake.

Thus, Achanuch has emphasized that these works “must be in accordance with the Royal High Will – in reference to the orders given in this regard by the king, Mohamed VI -, which implies harmony with the heritage and architectural characteristics of each region”, as reported by the Moroccan state news agenda, MAP.

The Moroccan Prime Minister has stated that these rehabilitation works due to the earthquake, which had its epicenter in the province of Al Haouz, “will take into account the reinforcement of infrastructure and the improvement of the quality of public services.”

In this sense, it has specified that the established technical commissions are carrying out work on the ground to census the totally or partially collapsed homes, data that will serve as a platform to determine the category of aid that will be delivered to the affected households.

On Thursday, Mohamed VI chaired a working meeting at the Royal Palace to activate the emergency program for the relocation of earthquake victims, which consists of both the urgent temporary relocation of those affected and the granting of emergency aid. of up to 30,000 dirhams (more than 2,700 euros) to affected families.

In the face of the tragedy, the international community has offered humanitarian aid, although Rabat has only accepted aid from a few countries, including Spain. Mohamed VI, for his part, was absent during the first days after the event. On September 12 he appeared in public for the first time during a visit to a Marrakech hospital where hundreds of wounded people are recovering.
