“The recent trend in relations between Rabat and Madrid is clearly moving towards greater cooperation,” said Mr. Berman in a statement to MAP, noting the positive results of the multidimensional strategic partnership between the two countries which stands as a a model of good neighborliness.
Noting the importance of the new phase of bilateral relations, initiated since the meeting between HM King Mohammed VI and the President of the Spanish Government, in April 2022, and the adoption, on this occasion, of the Joint Declaration between the two countries , the American expert wanted to particularly emphasize the constructive position of Spain supporting the autonomy plan, presented in 2007 by Morocco, for the settlement of the artificial dispute around the Moroccan Sahara.
Mr. Pedro Sanchez, “clearly made the improvement of relations with Morocco a priority, and the results are clear”, noted Mr. Berman, who highlighted the beneficial effects of the reinforced Moroccan-Spanish partnership for the benefit regional stability and prosperity.
“Madrid clearly understands the importance of the continent, in economic, political and human terms. And Morocco has proven that it is a leader in regional policy,” underlined the vice-president of the American think tank.
