Speaking at the opening of this event, Indian President Droupadi Murmu stressed that the objective of this event is to promote inclusive development and management of water resources, highlighting partnership and cooperation as essential means. to achieve this.

Ms. Murmu also recalled the crucial importance of reducing water scarcity for humanity, stressing that the Sustainable Development Goals highlight the participation of local communities in the management of water and sanitation.

The Indian President also warned against inefficient management of water resources and stressed the importance of responsible use of water, particularly in the agriculture, industry and food production sectors. energy.

This event, which continues until next Friday, represents an international platform where more than 5,000 participants discuss crucial themes such as water security, the sustainability of water resources and resilience to climate risks.

Topics such as collaboration for the integrated management of water resources, infrastructure challenges and innovative approaches for the management of water-related disasters are also at the center of the debates.

Morocco and India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on December 14 in New Delhi aimed at strengthening their cooperation in the field of water resources. This partnership covers several key areas, such as the design, construction and maintenance of hydraulic infrastructure, including large dams and water transfer projects.

It also includes integrated water resources management, prevention and management of floods and droughts, as well as sustainable development and groundwater management.

The agreement also emphasizes the collection and recovery of rainwater, as well as resilience and adaptation to climate change. In addition, it encourages cooperation between the water basin agencies of the two countries, in order to share expertise in integrated water resources management within the hydraulic basins. This Memorandum of Understanding also led to the creation of a joint working group on water resources.
