The Moscow International Film Festival announced the winner of its award for the forty-sixth session.

The festival administration stated that the film “Shame,” a Mexican-Qatari co-production directed by Miguel Salgado, won the grand prize at the forty-sixth session.

At the closing ceremony of the festival, the well-known Icelandic director Fredrik Thor Fredriksson was awarded the “Golden Saint George” award by the head of the jury of the festival’s main competition.

According to TASS, the film’s director said: “This film deals with a very serious problem, which is the problem of young people’s involvement in the activities of criminal groups, which we have fought and continue to fight in Mexico.”

This film stars Miriam Bravo, Fernando Coatl, Juan Ramón López, Francisco Mena, and Maria Membrinho. “The film’s scenario tells the story of the kidnapping of teenagers Pedro and Lucio, where they must engage in a deadly fight with each other in order to survive, and in the end Pedro wins.” He gets freedom, but he feels guilty towards Lucio.”

It is noteworthy that the 46th session of the “Moscow” International Film Festival began on April 19, and the festival was held for the first time in 1935. In 1995, it was announced that the festival would be held annually, but it did not take place in 1996 and 1998. Since 1999, the “Moscow” Film Festival has been held. Every year, the president of the International Film Festival is the famous Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov.
