Mossad chief David Barnea told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that a new deal with the Palestinian Hamas movement to return hostages would require allowing civilians to return to the northern Gaza Strip.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, this was reported by the 13th channel of Israeli television.

According to him, the head of the intelligence service conveyed to the country’s leadership that a new deal is possible only through compromise. As the TV channel notes, Netanyahu has not yet made a final decision, however, according to him, former Chief of the Israeli General Staff and Minister of the Israeli War Cabinet Gadi Eisenkot spoke in favor of Tel Aviv showing flexibility in this matter.

On March 29, Netanyahu announced that he had decided to send Mossad and General Security intelligence delegations to Qatar and Egypt in the coming days to continue consultations with Hamas on the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, although he had initially planned to send specialist-level delegations to Doha and Cairo. The Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya TV channel, citing a source in the Egyptian security forces, reported that indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas would resume on March 31 in Cairo.

The previous round of negotiations took place in Doha on March 18.
