The 2024 KTM RC 990 has already been caught rolling the streets, once again. One of the most popular demands of the lovers of the Austrian motorcycle brand was to launch a replacement for the now extinct KTM RC8 V-Twin. Since 2015 those from Mattighofen have not proposed any. And with the presence in MotoGP, it was about time.
The KTM RC 990 will change that. The model is not only in full development, but the test mule has once again been caught circling the street in Europe. It looks like, The Austrian sports car will be powered by the same LC8c engine that will power the 990 Duke which will see the light in a few months. However, it will not have the same power. It will come highly modified to offer more horsepower and performance, under a chassis of the same invoice, although also slightly modified. The rumors say that the motorcycle will be close to 140 CV of poweralthough without a trace of engine torque.
Not too long ago the 990 Duke prototype was also captured, and the similarities are more than evident between the two models. For example, it also comes out that both bikes will use the same swingarm, or even the exhaust pipe that ends in a square shape along with the rear tire.
Naturally, The difference between both motorcycles is that one will come with a fairing and the other will not. as well as the driving position. The sports fairing makes a clear nod to previous models, such as the RC8C, and even has a certain touch of the MotoGP RC16. And naturally, the riding position: much more aggressive thanks to the clip-ons.

What we can see in the photographs is already certainly familiar to us, although showing some motorcycles with more aggressive and modern lines. Especially the headlight, which seems to be in a very early phase, to which a kind of auxiliary focus has been attached, with the peculiar shape that the RC8 already had.

When it will arrive is the great unknown that is being considered right now. It’s all speculation, but seeing as the bike is in an advanced stage of development, we could expect to see it sometime in 2024, perhaps next spring. The motorcycles are usually presented a few months before, so the official birth of the model could well be in a few months, perhaps at the EICMA in Milan.
