Motor Vikatan – 01 December 2022 – Can you buy Ignis, a small car suitable for a small family?

by time news

Some cars are not for everyone. But for some people it is a very close and favorite car. So loved by many; A car hated by some – Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Some of the Tirunelveli readers of our motor review will rave about this car. A Madurai reader will say, ‘I don’t like the design of this car at home sir’. We are going to look at the Maruti Ignis which has received such mixed reviews in this month’s Used Car Market.

History

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis was launched in 2017 in the company’s hatchback segment…that is, at that price. At first glance, many wondered if it was a hatchback model… or a practicality car like the Wagon-R… or a small van type model.

As an alternative to hatchbacks, Maruti believed that the youth would definitely like the Ignis, which had a slightly sporty design with curves and straight lines here and there. Maruti has come up with this with the firm belief that we are the ‘Gillie of Futuristic Design’. Although many people did not like the rear side of a hatchback called Ritz initially.. Ritz gave the Swift the tough. Likewise, Maruti thought the Ignis would appeal to many customers.

Neither should the Wagon R model; The Maruti design team had carefully designed it so that it should not be like a van… but in a box type. As such, Maruti has positioned it in the premium hatchback segment. Yes, it won’t be available in Maruti showrooms; Buy from Nexa only. Maruti launched the Ignis as a low-cost premium hatchback at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 5.4 lakh. But now its top end is on par with a Belino. Also, Maruti’s mistake was to vacate it for BS-6 norms over time. And the downside is that it doesn’t have a turbo petrol for the driving enthusiasts. But luckily, AMT has the Ignis to attract women. MT and AMD – can be seen on both Ignis.

Ignis – Plus Features

Its major plus – the Santro-like… nay… more spectacular tallboy design. Hence, the Ignis blends cabin space and practicality. Also, its ingress/egress stuff is easy for elderly people to get on and off. Many people love WagonR for this reason.

Know that the model you are looking at is top end if it has LED projector headlamps! No need to think. Let’s negotiate. The reason is that this top-end Alpha variant… has more features. 15-inch alloy wheels, Smart Play system with Apple Car Play – Android Auto connectivity, automatic climate control, rear parking camera with sensors, dual front airbags, ABS and EBD are all the features required for this era. You can’t expect much in terms of amenities in low variants like Sigma, Delta etc.

Its interior is a bit cool. Due to the large cabin space, there is a generous amount of space for the driver, co-driver, and rear passengers. Because it’s a Tallboy… the headroom is super! Some of the plastics in the interior are a little low quality for a new car. It’s an old car…don’t expect too much from the quality of the plastics.

Its seats are said to be luxurious for long journeys. Also, in some cars, the back side is 3-passenger. But, 3 people can comfortably sit in it. With its crossover styling and ample ground clearance, you don’t have to worry about potholes.
