Motorola Razr Fold: Specs, Price & Release Date Revealed at MWC 2026

by priyanka.patel tech editor

Motorola officially entered the foldable phone arena in a bigger way this week, unveiling detailed specifications for its first book-style foldable, the Razr Fold, at Mobile World Congress 2026. First previewed at CES earlier this year, the Razr Fold aims to compete with established players like Samsung and Google, offering a compelling combination of power, display technology, and camera capabilities. The arrival of the Razr Fold adds another significant option for consumers interested in the evolving foldable smartphone market.

Powering the Razr Fold is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, the company’s most advanced chipset. This, according to Motorola, will seamlessly handle the device’s “moto ai” features. The phone will also offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, positioning it firmly in the flagship category. The substantial hardware is designed to support multitasking and demanding applications, capitalizing on the larger screen real estate offered by a foldable design.

Battery life is a key consideration for foldable phones, and Motorola appears to be addressing this with a large 6000mAh battery. The company claims this battery can provide 12 hours of power with just a 12-minute charge, leveraging fast-charging technology. This claim builds on Motorola’s reputation for strong battery performance, as evidenced by the 24+ hour battery life achieved with last year’s Razr Ultra.

A Bright Display and Sleek Design

The Razr Fold boasts a 6.6-inch external display for utilize when the device is closed, and an expansive 8.1-inch internal display when unfolded. Notably, Motorola has prioritized screen brightness, with the main foldable display reaching a peak of 6200 nits and the external screen hitting 6000 nits. This is significantly brighter than competitors like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (3000 nits) and other foldable devices currently on the market, promising excellent visibility even in direct sunlight. Both screens also support Dolby Vision and offer a billion colors.

Despite housing a large 6000mAh battery, Motorola has managed to keep the Razr Fold relatively slim. It measures just 4.6mm thick when open and 9.9mm when closed. Whereas slightly thicker than Samsung’s latest Z Fold (4.2mm and 8.9mm respectively), the Razr Fold compensates with a larger battery capacity.

A Camera System Aiming for the Top

Motorola is positioning the Razr Fold as a photography powerhouse. The device features a triple 50MP camera system, comprised of a 50MP Sony Lytia 828 main lens, a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, there’s a 32MP internal camera and a 20MP external camera. This setup has already earned a DXOMARK Gold award, indicating impressive image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.

This emphasis on camera performance sets the Razr Fold apart from some competitors, such as the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which was noted for having weaker cameras compared to the standard Pixel 10 Pro. The Razr Fold will also face competition from the anticipated iPhone Fold and future iterations of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

Release Date and Pricing

While Motorola hasn’t announced a firm release date, the Razr Fold is expected to launch in the coming months. Pricing details remain limited, though a bundle including the phone and the Moto Pen Ultra stylus is priced at €1,999 in Europe. Further details regarding availability and pricing in other regions are expected closer to the launch date.

The Motorola Razr Fold represents a significant step for the company into the increasingly competitive foldable smartphone market. With its powerful specifications, bright displays, and advanced camera system, it aims to offer a compelling alternative to existing options. Consumers interested in the Motorola Razr Fold can expect further updates on release dates and pricing in the coming weeks.
