Motorola’s new one is among the first with SD 8 Gen 2, 125 watt charging and 165 Hz screen

Motorola has announced the Moto X40, its latest flagship device. As expected, this is one of the first devices on the market with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and the manufacturer even claims peak performance thanks to a “3D” liquid cooling system. The X40 can be equipped with up to 16 gigabytes of working memory, and up to 512 gigabytes for file storage.

The display is an AMOLED type, 6.7 inches in size and a refresh rate of 165 Hz, and with a built-in fingerprint scanner. It supports 10-bit color depth and HDR, with a convex design on the sides.

The Moto X40’s rear camera setup includes a primary camera sensor with a 50-megapixel sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS), a wide-angle lens with a 50-megapixel sensor, and a telephoto lens with a 12-megapixel sensor. In front, the device is equipped with a selfie camera with a sensor with a resolution of no less than 60 megapixels. Motorola claims smooth 4K and HDR video capture.

The battery comes with a capacity of 4,600 mAh, with support for charging at a power of up to 125 watts in a wired connection, and 15 watts in a wireless connection. The operating system is Android 13 with MY UI 5.0 interface. More in the specifications: a pair of speakers that have been tested and approved by Dolby laboratories, and are resistant to dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard.

Moto X40 will be launched first in China, where it will be available for purchase in black and blue colors. Prices start at $487, and go up to $617 for the most expensive model. Details of a global launch have not yet been announced.
