Kurt Nilsen Shelves Sale of Unique Guitar-Shaped Cabin Amid Cooling Market
Norwegian singer-songwriter Kurt Nilsen has taken his distinctive, guitar-shaped cabin off the market, citing challenging conditions in the current cottage market and personal priorities. The property, located in Eidfjord, Vestland, was initially listed in April 2025 with an asking price of NOK 6.49 million, but ultimately failed to attract a buyer.
Cottage Market Cools After Pandemic Surge
Following a period of increased demand during the corona pandemic, the Norwegian cabin market has experienced a slowdown in recent years. According to reports, sales of recreational properties have become more difficult, particularly in mountainous regions. “It doesn’t go well with sales like that in the mountains,” a source familiar with the situation stated.
A Second Attempt at Sale
This marks the second time Nilsen has attempted to sell the property. The artist, known for winning the first season of “Idol” in Norway, first put the cabin up for sale in 2012. The current decision to withdraw the listing comes after just two months on the market.
Unique Property Details
Completed in 2009, the 189 square meter cabin is notable for its unique architectural design, resembling an acoustic guitar. The structure boasts 12 beds and two bathrooms, offering ample space for large groups. Construction on the cabin began in 2008.
Shifting Priorities for the Musician
Nilsen, 47, attributes the decision to remove the cabin from the market to a combination of factors, including a busy career and young children. “I don’t use the cabin at all right now. I don’t have time. It’s children and life,” Nilsen explained. He indicated a willingness to revisit the sale at a later date, stating, “It will be sold when it is sold.”
The artist’s decision reflects a broader trend of homeowners reassessing their property portfolios in light of changing economic conditions and personal circumstances. While the cabin remains off the market for now, its unique design and location continue to generate interest.
