United People’s Shakti reports that Member of Parliament Mujibur Rahman has resigned from his position as Member of Parliament.

Mujibur Rahman is stepping down as a Member of Parliament to run for the Colombo Chief Minister post.

United People’s Shakti has decided to nominate Rahman to run for the post of Colombo Chief Minister on behalf of his party.

With Mujibur Rahman contesting the upcoming local body elections, his parliamentary seat is expected to be filled by either AHM Baughey or Hirunika Premachandra, who are next in line based on preference votes.

It is noteworthy that Member of Parliament Harsa de Silva has congratulated Mujibur Rahman who is contesting for the position of Colombo City Chief Minister.
