BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has complained that ‘dummy elections’ are going to be held in upazila parishads like the national elections in the country and said, ‘Even Awami League leaders are not getting a chance in those elections today. The local people are hostages because of the brothers, brothers, nephews and brothers of the ministers and MPs. MPraj started in every parliamentary constituency, also dummy MP. Today, MPraj is being created with the relatives of dummy MPs. The whole area is hostage because of the MP rule.’
He said these things while distributing bottled water and saline among the people suffering from intense heat on the first day of the seven-day continuous program at BNP’s Nayapaltan office on Thursday (April 25) noon. Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP organized the event under the direction of Rafiqul Alam Majnoor and Dhaka Metropolitan South convener Abdus Salam presided over it.
Rizvi said, ‘Our experts and scientists have repeatedly said, do not generate electricity with coal. But the anti-people prime minister has done anti-people projects. Ignoring the opinion of experts, they have built a thermal power plant in Galachipa, Baufal.
Referring to Ziaur Rahman’s removal of the rationing system to make the country economically self-sufficient, he said, “Today the country’s economy has been looted and made fragile. Talking about self-sufficiency, he again introduced the rationing system. Even common people are not covered, the Awami group has also partisanized this ration card.’
He said, ‘Product prices are increasing every day. Ginger, garlic and onion have to be imported at dollar price. People cannot eat enough rice. Today we have to sell our children to make ends meet.’
Rizvi said, ‘2 thousand crores from the Chhatra League president in Faridpur…, the brother of the social welfare minister has earned 15 thousand crores. Where did this Aladdin lamp come from? Referring to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s speech, the senior joint secretary general of BNP said, ‘The journalists asked him why you gave a counter program on the day of BNP’s program? He said, we give counter program to block BNP mentally. This proves that Obaidul Quader has mental problems. He speaks terrorist language. He (Obaidul Quader) is the godfather of extortionists and gangsters.’
Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam said, ‘The whole country is on fire, people are starving. And the Prime Minister said, there is no problem. People are very good. No suffering of the people falls on them. Because they don’t see ordinary people. He only sees Mujib Kot. Today the work of 1 rupee is being done for 100 rupees. The remaining 99 rupees are spent on Mujib Kot.
