(24 News) is a drama serial that contains a slightly romantic story, in which Amina (Saba Qamar), who is a hot-tempered, rebellious and independent woman, becomes pregnant with her boyfriend Bilal (Agha Mustafa Hassan) and He leaves her, and Amina, heartbroken and bereft of family, turns to her “gay” friend Shamim (Nouman Ijaz), who secretly loves her and convinces her to marry and adopt the child. offers so that she will not be ridiculed by society, yet in love with Bilal, Amina refuses to respect Shamim or accept him as her husband, which of course makes it difficult to sympathize with him later because he is a fraud. Dahi overlooks the only window of love in the stifling room.

She goes into severe postpartum depression while Shamim takes care of her son Ali in order to make Amina see the truth. but unfortunately, she will not be able to get her happy ending so soon.

However, Mrs. and Mr. Shamim is a predictable family drama, which is enjoyed by everyone for its relatable characters, good direction, acting and many important twists, the entire series plays out in flashbacks. In which the pair reflect on their lives in a talk show called Hope, it is finally revealed that the show is being hosted by Ali himself, which can be inferred from the nature of his questions. Is.

Kudos to acting powerhouses Saba Qamar and Nauman Ejaz for working their magic on the show, Nauman Ejaz’s deep kind eyes reveal the pain of how his character is perceived.

It’s almost surreal to see the godfather of Pakistani dramas so convincingly cast himself into Shamim’s gentle, kind, ever-forgiving, chaste character, everything from his walk to his expressions is on point. On the lookout, with Saba Qamar you feel her change from a painful but unconsciously outgoing person to a complete aloofness.

However the “unconventional” trope that the show rides on is nothing short of a marketing gimmick, if you keep the Pakistani audience in mind it is fresh in its narrative and can be called a classic but by no means. The characters were not unconventional, and sadly the actors fell into that trap.

Thematically, the series shows liberal women gathering the power to call out abusive partners, opening the door to discussions about sexual abuse and rape by trusted religious scholars in madrassas, and rape. Dari survivors are seen discussing the prospect of arranged marriages.

This drama sensitizes the attitudes of women and the horrors of not passing for a straight man without using the word gay. The story is important and deserves praise, but it is worth mentioning that after the first few episodes, the social Issues and stereotypes are often questioned, contested and normalized, feeling forced and pushing the story forward unnecessarily.

The drama has 20 episodes and each episode is about 45 minutes long. The drama could have skipped some moral reality check but there are few scenes of Shamim raising the child. From post-maternal depression to black magic and infertility. There are scenes ranging from pandering to satanism in the name of religion. Saji Gill seems to have made up for all the missed opportunities he wanted to write about but couldn’t for Pakistani television.

An interesting thing that touches the heart is that the story is also about spreading awareness about AIDS, but they know the art of turning a taboo subject into a love story and they have done just that.

In summary, although the drama is a little long, it is worth watching.
