MSP announces the signing of two inter-institutional agreements with the Machala GAD to strengthen health services in El Oro – Ministry of Public Health

7 new ambulances will be delivered in the province

In Machala, El Oro province, the Minister of Public Health, José Ruales, announced the signing of two inter-institutional agreements with the Decentralized Autonomous Government (GAD) of Machala and the city’s Fire Department.

The first, with the GAD, corresponds to an agreement to identify a plot of land that will allow the construction of a new hospital. Regarding the second agreement, the Highest Health Authority indicated that the Machala GAD and the Fire Department will deliver four ambulances that will be integrated into the ECU 9-1-1 System and thus strengthen pre-hospital care services.

To these ambulances will be added seven additional ones that the Ministry of Health will deliver in the coming months and that are part of the 158 ambulances that will arrive in the country, through the agreement with UNOPS.

As part of his agenda, he held meetings with the Zonal 7-Health coordinator, Gina Cueva, the district authorities and hospitals in the province. There was talk of intervening in the improvement of infrastructure, provision of human talent and progress in the purchase of medicines and medical devices was verified.

Additionally, he spoke with the mayor of Arenillas, Eber Ponce, with whom he made a brief review of the regulatory points for the signing of a future agreement that makes possible the donation of land for the construction of a new hospital in that canton.

Regarding the progress of the vaccination process for children from 1 to 12 years of age within the framework of the Ecuador Campaign free of poliomyelitis, measles and rubella, Minister Ruales reported that he reached 84% coverage in El Oro.

Finally, the Minister participated in the Health Sectoral Cabinet, which is being held for the first time in this province, where the actions that are being developed in response to the arrival of the ElNiño Phenomenon were analyzed.
