Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová underwent surgery on her right wrist, which she has been working with since the US Open in September.

The 27-year-old finalist of last year’s Roland Garros informed about it in a press release and on social networks. This will extend the forced break by several months.

“After an injury at the US Open and extensive rehabilitation, it became clear that a medical procedure was necessary,” Muchová wrote.

“I’m tired and sad, but I know I’ll be fine now. The operation went well and I’ll do everything to see you back on the court soon,” she added.

The native of Olomouc has been struggling with a hand injury since the US Open, where she advanced to the semifinals.

At the end of the year, she had to miss the Tournament of Champions and the final tournament for the Billie Jean King Cup.

At the beginning of the season, she also withdrew from the Australian Open, and the originally planned return to Doha did not work out either.

Due to persistent problems, Muchová decided to undergo surgery after the recommendation of medical specialists. This should ensure her full recovery and return.

“The operation was without complications and the first forecasts are very promising. According to the doctors and her rehabilitation team, Muchová should return to the game within a few months, while an intensive rehabilitation program will now follow,” informed the representatives of the tenth ranked player in the world in a press release.
