DThe British actress Angela Lansbury, known to many from the series “Murder Is Her Hobby”, is dead. She died on Tuesday at her home in Los Angeles, her three children said. Lansbury would have been 97 next Sunday.
Born in London in 1925, Lansbury has starred in dozens of films and television films over the course of her long career, including The House of Lady Alquist, The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Ambassador of Fear and Death on the Nile. She also had great success on Broadway in musicals such as “Mame” and “Gypsy.”
She is perhaps best known for her role as detective Jessica Fletcher on the television series Murder, which ran between 1984 and 1996.
Lansbury has won six Golden Globes and five Tony Theater and Musical Awards. She was nominated for an Oscar three times, and in 2014 she received an honorary Oscar for her life’s work.
