Much of the film revolves around the boy’s difficulty in speaking. But the director has approached it very immaturely. The fact that so many people are faking it because of their difficulty in speaking and turning it into a laughable scene is irritating on more than one level. Everyone the child meets, from the grocer, to the school teacher, to classmates, mimics the child’s speech problem. To top it all off, the child’s mother is also ‘comedically’ shown doing certain things for him regardless of what he is trying to say.
In fact we as a society have progressed several hundred steps. I don’t know when we will stop showing such mental problems in the name of comedy.
In a school, even if other students tease them, they can be accepted as ignorant children. But starting from the school teacher Samyukta to the headmaster, the boy is looked down upon and treated as inferior. Similarly, even after the end of the story of the film, because someone said that it is a movie only if it is more than two hours, they have imposed some scenes in the range of ‘Medical Mafia’ without knowing why. They do not adhere cleanly to the film.
