Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted as Prime Minister of Bangladesh amidst massive student protests, is currently in India. His daughter, Saima Wazed Putul, has reacted to the news. She expressed sadness over her mother’s resignation and emigration.
Indian media outlet NDTV reported the news on Thursday (August 8).
Saima Wazed Puthul shared an emotional post on social media platform X shortly after being forced to step down from her post as Prime Minister due to the protests.
In her post, Saima Wazed wrote that she was unable to “see and hug her mother” during this difficult time. She expressed her love for Bangladesh and her commitment to fulfilling her duties as Regional Director for Southeast Asia of the World Health Organization.
The protests erupted over job quotas, leading to several deaths. On Monday, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the Prime Minister position at the age of 76.
