The mother of Armenian chess player, Grandmaster Levon Aronian, Seda Aronova, addressed the criticism directed at her son.
“I decided not to react to the nationwide inappropriate and brazen tweets against my son, Levon Aronian, as a person against the nation.
If Levon is accused of “slurping” Armenia’s money, let me inform you that as the captain of the team, he receives only 200 thousand drams, and regarding the information about astronomical sums, I should note that they were not addressed to him.
They were transferred to the Chess Federation of Armenia in order to obtain permission to use a special server, and not only he used that server.
By the way, permission to use the server has been suspended since 2020.
And for some reason, no one writes about Levon’s donated money and charity. I will also refrain from divulging the amount of money he regularly donates to charity.
I will only mention that he accepted invitations specifically to help Artsakh, for example, he gave a lecture for the American Basketball Association, and transferred all the money received to the Foundation.
Levon, for the benefit of Armenia and Artsakh, does charity both with his own funds and using his reputation in the world. at his urging, foreign friends from different countries of the world transferred large amounts of money to the All-Armenian Fund during the war.
I mention only one country, I leave the analysis to you. more than 30,000 euros were transferred by non-Armenian friends from Bulgaria alone.
Did you hear, of course not, because the intent was never to advertise. I should also mention that with the efforts of Levon and Gabriel Sargsyan, a grandmaster school was created and operated, which was closed in 2018, being considered unnecessary.
As a result, the athletes were scattered all over the world, and the body of the coach of that school, Grandmaster Arsen Yeghiazaryan, was moved from Kazakhstan to Armenia last year.
Today, Grandmasters Vladimir Hakobyan trains children from the USA, Hrant Melkumyan from Australia, Sergey Movsisyan from the Czech Republic, etc., and Levon Aronian’s apartment is the training place for young Armenian grandmasters.
At the moment, Levon is in Armenia and successfully plays under the ARMENIAN FLAG, but no media, neither opposition nor pro-government, covers his victories.
The order is obvious. In addition to all this, I should mention that Levon received and receives many offers to play in other countries’ national teams with a thousand times higher salary.
He has given them up so far, what decision he will make this time, seeing this nationwide psychosis, I cannot say.
No one is to blame for the life you did not get, stop criticizing the talented GM, trying to portray him as a traitor to the motherland and family. Please note that Levon’s participation in the chess life of Armenia was not for the sake of the President of the Federation Serzh Sargsyan, it was for the rank and honor of Armenia in the world.
The world community appreciated Armenia with these victories, not the president of the federation, it is enough to politicize my son’s historical achievements.
By the way, Olympic champions are not “former”. As for who Aronian really is, what he has done for our country, for the “omniscient” sclerotic part of the population, I remind you of some of the glorious pages of the Armenian nation.

And in the end, I want you to notice that many people from our nation changed their surnames by taking ov, ev, oglu and other suffixes, and my son, being half Jewish, changed his surname by the opposite logic, changing Aronov to Aronyan.
After all this, moral preachers, do you understand WHO dares to criticize WHOM? You are a danger to our motherland. Remember the famous phrase from the movie “A Piece of Sky” “Having a bad tongue is promiscuity”, Levon’s mother wrote on her Facebook page.
Let’s remind that a few days ago information was spread that the Armenian chess leader Levon Aronian refused to play under the RA flag from now on, he is going to move to the USA for permanent residence and play under the US flag. The public accepted this news with bayonets, to put it mildly.
