Myocarditis is neither triggered by the spike protein of the Sars-CoV-2 vaccine nor by the antibodies formed by the vaccination. This was determined by US researchers in a comprehensive study. Instead, it is a fundamental overreaction of the immune system that occurs in particularly strong immune systems. “MDR knowledge” reports on this.

Myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle. It occurs as a rare but serious side effect of COVID-19 vaccination in young men. About 36 out of 100,000 boys between the ages of 13 and 17 got myocarditis after their second Covid vaccination.

The researchers analyzed blood and plasma samples from 20 boys and three girls aged 13 to 21. They developed myocarditis after the vaccination. The scientists found that certain immune cells were activated by the increased production of cytokines and attacked heart muscle cells.

A gap of at least eight weeks between the first and second vaccination can reduce the risk of myocarditis in adolescents. The risk of myocarditis following COVID-19 vaccination is relatively rare. All cases were relatively mild, mostly healed by themselves and nobody died from it.
