NAMI Illinois Expands Local Support Network Across the State
Illinois residents facing mental health challenges now have increased access to support and advocacy through a robust network of local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) affiliates. These organizations provide vital resources, education, and peer support groups across a wide geographic area, strengthening the state’s commitment to mental wellbeing.
NAMI’s presence in Illinois is strategically distributed to serve diverse communities, from urban centers to rural counties. The organization’s local affiliates are crucial in tailoring support to the specific needs of each region.
Chicago and Surrounding Areas
Several affiliates focus on the greater Chicago metropolitan area. NAMI Chicago serves the entire Greater Chicago Area, while NAMI Cook County North Suburban concentrates on Northern Cook County. The NAMI South Suburbs of Chicago provides assistance to communities like Olympia Field, Orland Park, and Hazel Crest. Finally, NAMI Schaumburg Area focuses on Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove, and Hanover Park.

Northern and Western Illinois
NAMI’s network also extends to the northern and western parts of the state. NAMI Northern Illinois serves Winnebago and Boone Counties. NAMI Kane County North focuses on Northern Kane County, including Elgin, Dundee, and Sleepy Hollow. NAMI Kane-South, DeKalb and Kendall Counties supports Kane County south, DeKalb County, and Kendall County. NAMI Lake County Illinois provides resources for Lake County, and NAMI McHenry County serves McHenry County. Further west, NAMI Sauk Area supports Carroll, Lee, Ogle, Whiteside Counties and surrounding areas.
Statewide and Virtual Support
Recognizing the need for broader accessibility, NAMI Illinois Virtual Affiliate offers support to individuals across the state, regardless of their location. NAMI Will-Grundy serves Will County and Grundy County, completing the comprehensive network.
The expansion of NAMI Illinois’s local affiliates underscores the organization’s commitment to ensuring that quality mental health support is available to all Illinois residents.
