As petrol and diesel prices continue to rise, registrations of electric motor vehicles, including cars and buses, have doubled till October 31 last year.

According to data from the National Vehicle e-Registration Service of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (VAHAN), the number of vehicles registered in 2021 has increased from 13,884 to 31,281 vehicles this year. This is a growth of 125%.

From 10,200 in 2021, the registration of Tata cars has increased two-and-a-half times to 25,795 till October 31 this year. Hyundai sold only 161 electric cars last year; It has sold 426 cars till October this year.

BYD started selling electric cars only last year. It has sold 339 cars by then. Mahindra sold 11 electric cars last year. It sold 271 electric cars this year.

Apart from this, the number of electric two-wheelers has also increased significantly. As of last October, 68,424 two-wheeler electric vehicles have been registered. This is 29% more than last year.

Ola Electric (15,095), Okinawa (11,754), Ampere (8,812), Hero Electric (8,014), Aether (6,976), TVS are the top sellers of electric two-wheelers. (5,205), Bajaj Auto (1,265).

The sales of electric cars and electric two-wheelers are expected to rise significantly in the coming days.
