NASA scientists find DNA components in meteorites

by time news

An article was published in the journal Nature Communications in which scientists said that for the first time they discovered fragile fragments of RNA and DNA inside meteorites.

This discovery demonstrates that nucleotides could have been brought to Earth by asteroid impacts.

It is clarified that DNI and RNA consist of five components called nucleotide bases. So far, scientists have found only three types of bases in meteorite samples, which belonged to purines or pyrimidines.

The day before, scientists first discovered cytosine thymine and nitrogenous bases that are involved in the formation of DNA and RNA. In order to detect them, scientists used cold water and more sensitive analytical methods.
