A house was partially affected by an arson attack in Ghisonaccia (Haute-Corse), the Bastia prosecutor’s office said on Friday, confirming information from Corse-Matin. A tag “A Francia Fora” (France outside, Editor’s note) was found on the walls of the house, partially blackened by the flames, according to the prosecution. The fire, a priori of criminal origin, would have taken place between Wednesday and Friday morning.

The house, unoccupied at the time of the events, would belong to a person living on the island who uses it as a second home, Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia, told AFP.

The investigation was entrusted to the research brigade of the gendarmerie of Ghisonaccia.

Several dozen residences, most often secondary, have been affected over the past year by arson or explosive charges, with or without the presence of nationalist tags. At the beginning of February, the clandestine group GCC, “Ghjuventu Clandestina Corsa” (Corsican Clandestine Youth), announced its creation, claiming in passing 17 actions against second homes, buildings under construction, construction companies and tourist establishments.

On March 21, a year after the death of Yvan Colonna, fatally attacked in prison where he was serving his sentence for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac in 1998, the FLNC claimed 17 acts against second homes and criticized the GCC for having assumed “paternity” of many of his actions.
