Your organization should become a model for other industry organizations, which are countless, said Agriculture Minister Vatev
“We are strong and highly valued. This should motivate us to continue growing… One chairman and one board of directors are not enough for that. All are important. NAZ is every single member!” With these words, the Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Grain Producers (NOT) Iliya Prodanov addressed his colleagues in the welcome for discovery at the 11th National Agro Seminar, whose motto is “Sustainable grain production in conditions of changing climate and markets”. The seminar takes place in the Albena resort and will last until November 25. (See the program)

In his speech, he announced NAZ as a model of organization that should be followed by the other branch organizations, which “no one can count how many there are”.

The minister congratulated the author of the motto, recalling how unrecognizable the climate is now. Kiril Vatev gave the example of Greece, which in recent years has been hit by water and fire with torrential rains, drought and fires. During his recent visit to the neighboring country, the minister saw a lake that had dried up until recently, which the rains have restored again, leaving buildings and machines under water. “Nature brought him back,” he summed up.
The minister said that the war in Ukraine has changed the whole of Europe, and in the 5 countries closest to Ukraine, the problems are the same. Already the market is distorted because food from the warring country is free to move around the continent.
The executive director of DF “Agriculture” Georgi Takhov announced that very soon the 19 million BGN for sunflowers will be paid, as well as the 16 million for irrigation.

According to the indicative schedule, the basic income support will be transferred in December, the subsidies under measure 10 and under measure 11 will be paid.
The student Tsvetomir Koev from the Agricultural University will be supported by NAZ with a scholarship for a master’s course for one year. He thanked the professors of the university, said good words about ch. Assistant Professor Nesho Neshev thanked Prof. Tonyo Tonev, in whose experimental farm he worked and studied.

Later, Iliya Prodanov and Kaloyan Kumanov from NIK presented their interesting initiative.
Iliya Prodanov explained that in almost all European countries, farmers are deeply respected because they produce daily food. In Bulgaria, this is not the case and it is necessary to work in such a way that the attitude of society changes.
“I want people to support the sector, the good things that its activity is connected with,” Kumanov said. He gave as an example all social groups that are related to agriculture – from consumers to lessors of agricultural land, traders and processors. There are no statistics on how many people are connected to the sector, the co-owner of NIK reported as a minus.
Iliya Prodanov also gave an example with imports from Ukraine. He said he feels the problem is a wall that grain growers are running into, especially since the public doesn’t understand why growers are unhappy. “We can’t knock down the wall, but we can go around it,” sees the chairman.
Other problems that Ilia Prodanov touched on are the limited irrigation, the one-year land lease contracts, the lack of a Law on branch organizations.
