Oklahoma City Australian guard Josh Giddey is under investigation by the NBA, a league spokesperson said Friday, regarding a potential relationship with a minor, which the 21-year-old player did not wish to comment.
The sports media The Athletic quoted Mike Bass, spokesperson for the NBA, who is “investigating” allegations of an “inappropriate relationship” by Josh Giddey with a minor which were relayed this week on social networks.
“I understand the question, of course, but no I won’t make any comment,” Giddey responded Friday, when asked on the sidelines of Thunder training. His coach Mark Daigneault also declined any comment on a “personal matter”.

It all started from an anonymous account which, on social networks, published several images and videos of Josh Giddey in the company of an underage woman. The author of the posts, since deleted, relates that the Thunder player allegedly had an affair with the teenager when she was 15 or 16 years old at the time, while the Australian was 19 or 20 years. This age difference constitutes a misdemeanor in the State of Oklahoma.
Josh Giddey is playing his 3rd NBA season. With 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists on average this season, he is an important player for the young and talented Thunder team, second in the Western Conference (11 wins – 4 losses), which remains on six consecutive successes before hosting Philadelphia on Saturday.
